Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA)

In September 2001 the Maritime Chamber within the TETA procured our services to conduct research into the skills development needs of small boat operators and fisher folk on the coastlines of KwaZulu Natal, the Eastern Cape and Western Cape Provinces. The research informed the development of a pilot programme to address the skills needs of these communities.

Thereafter, was appointed as project leader by the TETA in June 2002 to provide technical assistance in the design and development of a skills development programme to address the needs identified in the research process. The technical assistance involved the development of a project cycle manual as the basis for the management of the project. In August 2002, we facilitated a strategic planning session for stakeholders involved in the fishing industry in view of the national roll-out of the project.
